THE RSVP

January 10 – Twilight Cruise

We couldn't have asked for better weather during our sail boat cruise. I arrived early, grabbed myself a glass of wine and sat outside the Oyster Bar at the Pier; it was so nice and peaceful watching the water glistening under the sunlight and the smell of beach in the air. About half hour later everyone starting arriving, once we were all gathered waiting for the boat there was introducing to do as we had four new Ladies, welcome to Josie, Laurie, Paula and Kathy. Then it was time to climb aboard…

We were welcomed onto the boat by a couple pieces of eye candy which is always a bonus on our "Ladies Day". At the front of the boat were two large nets that lay across the floor of the boat – Carol, Paula and I made a bee line for these. They were extremely comfortable like sitting in a hammock and luckily the water was dead flat otherwise we would’ve ended up with wet bottoms. After the skippers safety introduction we set sail. One of the best feelings is having the wind of fresh sea air in your face, my opinion of course. All the ladies were having a great time, sipping their drinks while catching up from Christmas and New Year. I must say Melissa was looking fantastically radiant now she is 6 months pregnant and her morning sickness is slowly becoming something of the past.

About an hour into the tour I thought I had better do the fun bits of our "Ladies Day" otherwise there wouldn't have been much light to play with. Firstly all our new ladies that I mention before received their welcome gift. Secondly I had to get Melissa to use her hands as the raffle ticket box – which was very challenging in the sea breeze. Zoe won the raffle prize of chocolates, hand cream and a beautiful bronzy gold coloured diary. Last of all I had to give the "Ladies Day" Legend Trophy to Melissa, earlier that day I had a phone call from Melissa’s mum, Anne, saying she could no longer go on the cruise as she was sick. About an hour later Anne sends me a text to tell me Melissa would be coming in her place (keeping in mind Melissa was too late to RSVP and wanted to come but the boat was full). It may sound a bit extreme but I told everyone she had poisoned her mum so that she was able to come on the cruise. I think that is a very worthy reason for the trophy…don't you?

The sunset was amazing, turning different colours over the ocean from shades of orange to pink. There were lots of cameras snapping away at this time. Then it all seemed to finish too quickly we were back where we started outside the Oyster Bar at the Pier. Oh well Ladies, I'll make sure next months Ladies Day lasts a bit longer, until then…

Anita xoxo
