December 09 – Happy 2nd Birthday to Ladies Day

It was a fantastic start to our birthday party…I walked into Oh Calcutta an hour before everyone else was due to arrive (only because I'm anal and a 10 minute job of setting up our table with balloons etc I need an hour to do, for it to be perfect). Anyway John the Chef made me feel so welcome when I walked in asking me about our "Ladies Day" group, him and the staff seemed very interested it was almost like they wanted me to invite them along, sorry fellas. John then took photos of our beautiful table setting for his website!!! Yes that's right…John is also a photographer and informed me he would come back later that evening even though it was his night off before we cut the cake to take more photos of us - I've already checked the website and our photos are up already, you gotta check them out http://www.ohcalcuttarestaurant.com/MyCustomers.html

When everyone arrived we all settled down to look at the menu it was a very hard decision for some of us, not mentioning names, as some of us didn't want to venture out on anything too hot but still wanted something different other than butter chicken. When we had all finally decided and ordered, I told everyone if they wanted to be in the draw to win our amazing jelly bean vase which was taller than some people they had to donate a gold coin into the RSPCA tin for each guess of how many jelly beans where in there. The wonderful ladies at Honey Bunch is who I spoke to when I ordered for each placement a boutique of chocolate which was as Aimee said absolutely amazing how they matched the colours of the chocolates and wrapping to our "Ladies Day" colours – purple, pink and teal.

Everyone enjoyed their meal (Tracey didn't get her salt and pepper squid like she was promised but she managed). I don't think the dings from the money hitting the bottom of the RSPCA tin stopped until well after we had finished our mains. The winners were now to be announced, firstly Mel won the booby prize for picking such a high number, I think about 700ish and there was no way there was that many jelly beans in the vase. Next Aimee won the Ladies Day legend trophy for having the lowest number of all the guesses but not too far away at 189 jelly beans and lastly Kylie won the vase (check the photos out of the vase because me calling it this doesn't do it any justice) guessing 299 when there was 298 jelly beans. Well done Kylie!

By this time it was dessert time, John came back with his camera and we sang happy birthday. He put the pop version of Happy Birthday (I don't remember who sings it) on the speakers so the whole restaurant had no choice but to sing along for us. We were not only getting sung to with our cake on the table but John gave us each an instrument to bang or shake that we had to jive along with while he snapped at us like models posing for playboy. It was a great end to the night a huge high followed by myself serving up pieces of cake to everyone like they would never be aloud to eat another piece of chocolate cake in their life.

Thanks so much Ladies for making it such an amazing night and Aimee to my partner in crime. Happy Birthday to us! Luv Anita
